FA Cup: Kotoko to face Aduana Stars
Article Posted on 2015-07-09

Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Aduana Stars are set for the first semi-final game in the 2015 MTN FA Cup at the Sunyani Coronation Park on Friday.

The Porcupine Warriors got into the last four after producing one of their best performances this season by beating Ghana Premier League leaders AshantiGold 2-0.

As it stands, repeating the double seems extremely difficult following an inconsistent campaign in the league; however, the FA Cup looks like the title that is within their reach.

But Aduana Stars, the 2009/2010 Ghana Premier League champions, are very credible opponents, and have what it takes to stop Kotoko from making a third straight appearance in the final.

The Ogyaa Boys have so far been decent campaigners in the ongoing Ghana Premiership. They started their campaign back in January with a 1-0 victory over Kotoko in the week one fixtures.

With Ghana losing two slots in the Caf Inter-club competitions due to poor performances by Ghanaian clubs, the FA Cup has become so important to the participating clubs, since the winner gets an automatic slot to play in the Caf Confederation Cup.

All four clubs in the semi-finals are anxiously chasing the title, as AshantiGold, who were dumped out by Kotoko, still remain favourites to win the GPL and the sole ticket for the Caf Champions League next season.

Kotoko coach David Duncan will relish winning the cup, since he is yet to win any major trophy at club level in Ghana.

Meanwhile, Accra Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC will clash in the other semi-finals game on Sunday at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast.
